Layton, Utah police shoot man during ‘questioning’ in front of his home

“Officials say a Layton Police officer shot at a suspect late Tuesday night after the suspect started to attack the officer during an interview.

Officials calling it a case of self-defense.

Police got a call of a domestic situation at 566 E. Miller Avenue, during that 911 call the caller told dispatch she heard the man threaten to kill the woman.

The couple was fighting in the street when the man dragged the woman across the street to another house.  When the police officer got to the area he split up the couple and began interviewing the man.  During that interview he began hitting and attacking the police officer who then shot several times at the suspect.

Both the Layton Police Officer and the suspect were taken to local hospitals.  The officer had serious wounds to his head and face, but is expected to be fine.  The suspect is in critical condition.”
