“Cleveland police are reporting an officer-involved shooting at East 123rd Street and Saywell Avenue.
Officers said the incident happened at approximately 6:45 p.m. Thursday when a man came to the scene of an earlier burglary, asked a detective “are you looking for me?” and then drew a semi-automatic pistol. The officer ordered the suspect to drop his weapon.
The suspect instead pointed his weapon causing the officer to shoot him. The suspect then ran on the porch and was shot at again by the officer.
The suspect dropped his weapon and ran inside the home, barricaded himself and refused to surrender. After a brief standoff, the suspect surrendered and was found to have a gunshot wound to the leg.
The 59-year-old man was taken by EMS to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he is being treated for his injuries.”
