“An undercover operation goes wrong and one person is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Iowa City last night.
The shooting happened around 7 p.m. last night at the Breckenridge Estates mobile home park.
The Division of Narcotics Enforcement was involved with an investigation, when there was a confrontation between the officers and the suspects.
Public safety officers tell us that’s when shots were fired and several people were shot.
At least one person is dead and a second person involved is being treated at a nearby hospital.
The two narcotic agents were not shot.”
“Johnson County Attorney Janet Lyness said an altercation occurred during the operation, and shots were fired.
At a news conference Friday, she said the case was under investigation and details were not available about what caused the altercation, who fired first and how many shots were fired.
She said 24-year-old Ivan Carl Hardemon was killed and Demarco Dudley, 21, was injured. Dudley’s condition was unknown but is not believed to be life-threatening.”
