Video – Shreveport police shoot and kill Elijah Haggerty, 31, after he allegedly shoots Jolette Frazier

“At approximately 9:14 p.m. on August 8, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a home in the 9200 block of Cade Drive relative to a shooting. Upon arrival, Sergeant David Recchia, Officer LaBrian Marsden and Officer Ted Jamison found 28 year old Jolette Frazier outside of the residence there suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. The officers quickly ascertained that the male suspect who had allegedly shot Frazier was inside the house and when they encountered him there, they found him armed with a shotgun. The suspect began to level the weapon at the officers at which time Sergeant Recchia and Officer Marsden both fired their department issued handguns striking him at least once in the upper body. Due to his proximity to the other patrolmen, Officer Jamison was not able to fire at the suspect. The suspect, later identified as 31 year old Elijah Haggerty, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Shreveport Fire Department subsequently transported Frazier to LSUHSC where she underwent emergency surgery for what has been described as a potentially life-threatening injury. ”
