“Police say they spotted the suspect’s vehicle and tried to pull it over but the driver sped away instead. The pursuit lasted about one hour. The suspect allegedly led officers on a chase at high speeds from Santa Maria into San Luis Obispo County and then back into the Santa Maria area. The pursuit finally ended along Highway 1 just west of Orcutt about 7 pm.
Officers managed to put out a spike strip to deflate the tires on the suspects SUV which police say appears to be a Suburban.
Officers also tell KEY News the suspect left the vehicle with a weapon and that’s when they fired killing the suspect.”
Santa Maria police and California Highway Patrol have teamed up for a number of kills this year. One commenter tells this site that Santa Maria cops have killed at least 6 this year.
