“According to preliminary information from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, a woman called 911 and reported that her boyfriend was assaulting her. The first officer to arrive on the scene was confronted by a man outside of the home holding two knives, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Diane Richardson said.
Richardson said the officer repeatedly asked the man to drop his weapon. The man moved toward the officer who then fired his gun several times, she said.
“Clearly the officer felt threatened, at which time he took action,” Richardson said.
Richardson said the officer shot the man in the arm, shoulder and abdomen.
The man was taken into custody and flown to a hospital where he is being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, Richardson said.”
