Update – Victim of police shooting in Paris, KY, Eugene Ray Holder, dies from wounds

“A man who was wounded by a Paris city police officer has died.

The Fayette County coroner’s office says 36-year-old Eugene Ray Holder of Paris died shortly before 4 a.m. EDT Tuesday at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Holder died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Police say the man refused to put down a gun during a domestic argument.

Kentucky State Police identified the officer as Kevin Anderson, a 7-year veteran of the Paris Police Department. State police are investigating the shooting, which occurred Monday after city police were dispatched to a home where two people were reported fighting.

Police said the officer and the man got into a fight and the officer fired once, striking the man. The Lexington Herald-Leader said the officer and a woman in the home were treated for minor injuries.”
