Man shot and killed by police in Colton, CA; dog also injured

“A police chase involving a man in a stolen vehicle ended in a fatal officer-involved shooting in Highland today.

A Colton police officer tried to pull over the driver near the intersection of Ninth and G streets at 11:13 a.m., said police Detective Ray Mendez.

The driver fled and police chased him to the 6900 block of San Francisco Street in Highland.

“At the end of the pursuit a PIT maneuver was used and subsequently an officer-involved shooting occurred,” Mendez said.

Police also said there was a dog in the vehicle, but it was unknown if the dog was injured in the crash or shooting.”
