“A 29-year-old Crest Hill man remained hospitalized this morning after being shot Sunday morning by police responding to a domestic violence call on Joliet’s East Side.
Joliet police responding to a 7:27 a.m. domestic disturbance on the 500 block of Second Avenue said the man was leaving through the rear door of the residence when he encountered a police officer. The man displayed a semi-automatic pistol as he re-entered the home, police said.
The man failed to respond to commands from two officers to put the weapon down and instead pointed it at an officer, according to a prepared statement released this morning by Joliet police.
Police said an officer shot the man in the abdomen. He was transported to a Joliet-area hospital, where he underwent surgery for the gunshot wound, which police termed non-life-threatening.”
