“Police shot a man in his 30s three times today after he turned a gun on them during a foot chase.
Two officers tried to stop the man at about 1 p.m. near the intersection of Winnebago and Nebraska after he rolled through a stop sign, said Capt. Michael Sack.
The man did not stop for the officers, Sack said. They followed his dark green Cadillac Escalade SUV several blocks and through several turns. After turning north on Oregon Avenue, the man stopped the car, got out and ran.
An officer confronted the suspect between some houses, police said. The man pulled a gun, and the officer ordered the man to drop the weapon, Sack said.
When he didn’t, the officer opened fire, striking the man in the shoulder, buttocks and leg.
No officers were injured during the incident and the man was taken to an area hospital, Sack said. His condition was not available.
This is the 13th officer-involved shooting this year for St. Louis police officers, a police spokeswoman said. That total matches the yearly average for the past five years.”
