Update: Victim shot and killed at his home in North Branch, Minnesota identified as Robert Elias Aho

“According to the BCA report, when officers arrived, Aho remained inside but his wife, sister and step-daughter had already left the residence. The home’s garage door was open.

The preliminary investigation shows officers were gathered near the garage door when the service door between the home and garage opened, and Aho emerged carrying a rifle and a shotgun, with the barrels facing upward.

Officers tell investigators Aho ignored repeated instructions to put the weapons down, and then lowered the barrel of one of the weapons to point at the officers.

Chisago County Sheriff’s Deputy Steven Gregory Husmann fired his weapon, striking Aho twice.

Aho was airlifted to Region’s Hospital where he later died as a result of the gunshot wounds.”
